CLIMATE ACTION RESOURCES

Los Angeles Climate Week will place a special emphasis on engaging families, youth, and working professionals. The week-long summit will aim for an extensive collaboration with schools and universities throughout Los Angeles. In a significant push to empower and educate, we plan to distribute 200,000 digital Climate Action Toolkits developed by our organizing partners. These resources will outline local climate programs and opportunities, allowing students and residents to kickstart their environmental journeys and drive positive change.

THE COALITION

We have formed a coalition of LA-based environmental organizations and businesses to unify the efforts of various groups working towards climate action. Members of the coalition will be invited to community consultation sessions to help plan LA Climate Week. They will also receive access to a database of contact information and ‘areas of expertise’ of all the other coalition members. We hope this leads to new collaborations, support, and resource sharing. Collidescope Foundation aims to host capacity-building workshops on back-office operations, grantmaking, and governance for grassroots organizations and NGO leaders. Coalition members will furthermore have opportunities to network, exchange knowledge, and collaborate through our ‘open door’ initiative.

THE CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY TABLING EVENT

The Clean Energy Economy Tabling Event will bring together businesses, government entities, and NGOs to support Los Angeles' electrification goals and promote the clean energy transition. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in clean energy technologies, including electric vehicles, solar power, and energy-efficient home appliances.

The event will also provide educational sessions on the benefits of electrification, practical steps for homeowners to electrify their homes, and the broader impact of these efforts on reducing the city's carbon footprint.

03

SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS MARKET

LA Climate Week will unite sustainable brands through a pop-up shop and tabling event to emphasize the importance of small local businesses in combating climate change and promoting a circular economy. The event will showcase a variety of eco-conscious products such as fashion, beauty, home goods, and food. There will be a focus supporting local, small-scale enterprises committed to sustainability. The sustainability market will also feature educational events on sustainable consumption, thrifting and the reuse/recycling of materials.

THE COMMUNITY RESEARCH PAPER

Insights shared by the LA community during discussions and surveys will be captured in a flagship white paper. We hope that the findings and trends will provide decision-makers with a clear understanding of community ideas and needs. This document is designed to guide NGOs, policymakers, and businesses in crafting informed strategies that directly address the specific environmental challenges and aspirations of the local population. By aligning decision-making with community input, this white paper aims to facilitate more effective and responsive climate action initiatives within Los Angeles.

05

CLIMATE CAREERS AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

99% of the people that will be working on climate by 2030 are not yet doing so. LA Climate Week can be a unique opportunity for people to understand how they can use their professional skills and career output to make an impact on climate. LA Climate Week will be offering resources such as an LA Climate Companies and Climate Jobs Board, a learning and upskilling event series on various climate sectors, and climate career networking events.
